Every house of fashion has presented an exciting selection of jackets that will liven up the scene as the weather turns colder. Throw away those dreary winter jackets immediately. This does not mean that you will be shivering this fall. Tradition has had a strong influence on this collection and this means warm winter-wear. Leather remains the leading fabric in jackets but the perforated leather brings a new look to an old material. Designers have gathered the leather tightly into a band around the waist, drawing attention to a really voguish pair of trousers. The waistband, and the wristband, is finished in a contrasting trimming, often ribbed, and generally in a strong shade of green or red. A bomber jacket must have plenty of audacious zips both to keep the jacket and many pockets closed, but also on shoulders and sleeves. The double-breasted jacket also has nostalgic origins but for the current mode, you must select a fitted jacket. The younger crowd are wearing extremely tight-fitting jackets that show off a slender waist. The double-breasted jacket in a formal, sombre fabric together with a formal pair of trousers makes an excellent outfit for an evening. However, put a double-breasted jacket in cotton with a stylish pair of jeans and you will wow the casual scene. The double-breasted look is also in vogue in the form of a trench coat. Trench coats, like bomber jackets, have their beginnings in war when men donned thick, long coats to keep out the cold in the trenches. Fortunately, the trendy trench coat now in mode comes in beautiful lightweight fabrics of cotton and polyester. While the color for jackets is generally dark, with black being a favourite, these trench coats come in shades of beige which means that can complement most ensembles. A contemporary jacket is the short trench coat, usually in a deep blue or black, but with exciting bold belts and buckles not only on the bodice but also on the sleeves and collar. The really trendy jackets are trimmed in rough ribbing fabrics or soft shiny fabrics that complement the dark colors. Striped trimmings are definitely in fashion. Collars are also prominent. They are oversized or designed to stand up. Pockets are popular while, as usual, trimmings are designer signatures.
